Each year, The Society of Typographic Arts (STA) honors the 100 best examples of typographic excellence produced around the globe. In 2021, Bos Klein received an STA 100 Award for the identity re-design of the NCSHOF.

The Design
When tracing the history of sports to its very conception in human history, the motif of the arena is a phenomenon that transcends time, culture, and civilization. By simply extending the “O” in sports, this classic shape employs a flexible and dynamic device used graphically in the form of illustration, photographically as a framing convention, and typographically as a letterform that has the ability to customize brand communications.

The Words
The “O” becomes a communications tactic allowing the brand to claim North Carolina sports legends as part of its mission to celebrate athletic achievement and excellence. By using “Our Michael Jordan,” for example, his individual status transforms into shared history that all North Carolinians can enjoy.
